Step by Step Guide To Customizing Your Garden Lighthouse

STEP 1

Choose The Construction Material For Your Lighthouse

Wood is the most economical, and allows the most flexibility in design styles. The life expectancy of a wood lighthouse is the shortest at approximately 7-10 years. Doing annual maintenance or replacing the base and top can extend this.

Poly is the most durable, and maintenance free, however design options are less than wood. Life expectancy on a poly lighthouse is several decades and 40 years or more is not unrealistic.

Hybrid lighthouses are constructed with a poly base, a wood tower, and a poly top, this allows for the same design choices as a wood lighthouse. At the same time the price is more economical than poly and the life expectancy is longer than that of an all wood lighthouse at approximately 15 years. Customize Now

Stone lighthouses make a great statement piece with their intriguing appearance, however stone and mortar color is somewhat limited and currently only 1 design style is offered. Stone lighthouses are the most expensive lighthouse we offer. Customize Now

STEP 2

Choose The Design Style of Your Lighthouse

Browse the lighthouse category and select a design style that fits your landscape. Focus on design only, size and colors can be customized later.

Choose The Height of Your Lighthouse

In this step you will determine if you want a base on your lighthouse or if you want the lighthouse only. The base adds a bit of contrast to the bottom of the lighthouse and some additional height. If you purchase a hybrid lighthouse, then a base is highly recommended, or you will only be getting a percentage of the value you are
paying for.

Once you have determined whether you want a base on your lighthouse, select the height of the lighthouse itself. Remember if you are purchasing a 5-foot lighthouse it will measure approximately 58” -60”, while a 5-foot with base will measure approximately 68”–70” high. These dimensions can be found in the product description for each lighthouse.

If you want the tower and base windows functional in your lighthouse with interior lighting then you will need to select a size that offers interior lighting. Please note we only offer interior lighting in the tower and base on 4 foot or larger models with a base. ALL our lighthouse models come with functional lighting in the lighthouse top.

STEP 4

Choose The Lighting For Your Lighthouse Top

Most of our lighthouse models can accommodate various types of lighting. You will be able to choose from standard electric, to revolving lights, solar lights, and add dusk to dawn sensors.

Just a few notes here:

        - Revolving Lights do not fit in our 2 foot models
        - Solar lights are not recommended in our 12 foot models due to their low lumen output.

STEP 5

Choose The Colors For Your Lighthouse

As you go about choosing colors visualize the surroundings where your lighthouse will be located and choose colors accordingly. Do you want your lighthouse to blend in or be a contrast? View the color chart located in the photos section of the lighthouse to see what each color looks like.
